iFolder 3.8
iFolder UsesIf you have a NetWare 6.5 Server you can install iFolder 2 on it. iFolder 2 is very stable, but it isn't for sharing with other people. If you have iFolder 3.8 and it's running on anything EXCEPT Novell SuSE Linux (we have one running over Ubuntu 91.0) you can create multiple iFolders and share then with different people either as Read-Only or Read-Write. I have 3 iFolders, one is encrypted and Private (not Shared) one is for my family which is shared R/W with them and one is for sharing with selected colleagues at work. One of the joys of iFolder is that when you are away from home or work (in a hotel for example), you can work on your Laptop with your files, knowing that when you get home / work they will be synchronized and updated on your home / work PC. Another excellent use for iFolder is to create a dedicated iFolder Server (NetWare 6.5 and iFolder2 is fine for this) and set everyone's Local Home Directory as an iFolder. In spite of all the rules, we all know that users save important data on their local drive and in the event of theft or a disk crash, very important data can be lost. If the User's Local Home Directory is an iFolder, once they get a new machine, all their data is safely stored on the iFolder Server and they won't lose a thing! |
